Church of Santa Maria Assunta

Jewel of the early Renaissance

The cathedral of Trevignano is dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta and has always been considered a place of great importance for the community. In the center of the village, it stands majestically as if to protect the ancient borough. Inside, you will find valuable works from the most renowned school of the Italian Renaissance, the school of Raphael.

Church of Santa Maria Assunta is located in the historic center of Trevignano Romano just 40 km from Rome on Lake Bracciano. The small cathedral is surrounded by countless medieval houses and palaces that protect it from the elements. As you approach the church, after a short climb, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful view that stretches from the rooftops of the historic center to the lake.

A stone's throw from the lake and the central square

Entering from one of the many streets that run along the lake and head towards the mountain, or from the clock tower on Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III, you will find yourself along the main street Umberto I. Reach the heart of the village, and as soon as you are below the church, take the small uphill street on the left that will lead you directly to the courtyard in front of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta.
